Please read the whole description! On offer is a second half 20th century Chinese Hardstone Statue of a Shishi Foo Dog Guardian Lion. It is approximately 9 cm long, 4.8 cm wide and 6.3 cm tall at the widest points. It has a good amount of details and decent weight too! It is made of “Dushan Jade” found in the Nanyang district in China. Also called as Nanyang Jade. It is a quite versatile material with some varieties having specific gravity over 3, that brings them in Hetian Jade level. The average gravity is 2.9,which is the upper level for Hardstone and the lower for Hetian Jade. It is considered a type of Hardstone, but some varieties can rival Jadeite really.. There is actually variety that has a specific gravity of 3.08 that is above Hetian Jade’s upper range! Many people confuse it with Jadeite, and I think this is the case here. Many people would call this Jadeite and ask for a super premium… Anyway, you can consider it as premium Hardstone, which is a fair description. Recently sourced from a UK auction house. A nice decorative/collectable item to have on display. Condition Report: This carving is in very good/excellent condition. The only blemish is some marks to the paws, which are not visible when on display. There are very minor really, please see photo 14. Other than that, as good as new. He visits me every few months (I am sorry I cannot afford more frequent visits) and advises me on my collection and new acquisitions. I use his guidance alongside the description of accredited auctioneers to describe my lots and in line with similar known examples. Of course mistakes can occur and I will take full responsibility if that happens. If you are qualified to do so and you spot an alleged error in my listing, then please let me know. BUT, you have to be in a position to do so, i.e. you are a Certified Art Appraiser registered with an Appropriate Body or an Accredited Auctioneer in Art and have professional knowledge. If that is the case then please kindly introduce yourself to me and inform me of this error. According to the severity of the error, I will either make changes or delist the item. However, if you are just another “dealer” or a self proclaimed “expert” and you know everything better than me and can outperform me and my Art Appraiser in every simple possible way (OF COURSE YOU CAN!!!), then I would like to state that your “expertise” is neither requested nor is welcome!
